The Wes Lunt era at Oklahoma State still hasn’t officially begun. But Friday night, Cowboy fans can catch a glimpse of what could come after Lunt at quarterback.
The season opener for OSU QB commit Luke Del Rio’s high school team, Valor Christian (Colo.), will be streamed live on ESPN3 at 9 p.m. as part of ESPN’s High School Football Kickoff weekend.
Del Rio, who committed to the Cowboys in late May, was named an Elite 11 Quarterback this summer and is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals. He is the son of Jack Del Rio, the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and former head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This will Del Rio’s first game quarterbacking Valor Christian after moving to the Denver area from Jacksonville when his father was hired by the Broncos. Valor Christian will face perennial powerhouse Mullen, a school starting fresh with new head coach Tom Thenell after firing Dave Logan, a legendary Denver sports figure, in January.
