Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy will miss Thursday’s practice to attend the funeral services for Angela Spencer, wife of co-defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer, in Carrollton, Ga, an OSU official said Wednesday.

Angela Spencer, who received a heart transplant in February of 2010, died Saturday night. Glenn Spencer was called back to Stillwater from Tulsa during the three-hour weather delay before OSU’s 59-33 victory over TU early Sunday morning.

Coordinators generally have more control of practice on Thursdays, with the offense working inside Boone Pickens Stadium and the defense on the practice fields.

Quality control coach Andrew Thacker has been coaching the linebackers this week in Glenn Spencer’s absence. Gundy said Monday that Glenn Spencer may be back on the sideline for the Cowboys’ game at No. 8 Texas A&M Saturday afternoon.

“He has expressed a strong interest in at least wanting to be with the team,” Gundy said Monday. “It’s hard for me to really speak for him, with the exception that once that part of it (the funeral) is complete, I think he wants to try to get back into a routine to keep his mind kind of off it the best that he can. That’s what I gathered from him (Monday) morning.”
