Tailgate blog: Meet me at Joe’s

OK…so I kind of cheated today. Instead of hitting up tailgates, I went to a pair of restaurants.

But I wanted to watch as much of the OU/UT game as possible (it seemed like a good idea at the time). And I was also really curious to see how OSU fans would react to the game. The Cowboy faithful are in a little bit of a fan pickle. The natural reaction is to always, always, always cheer against the Sooners. But, an OU victory is actually more beneficial to the Cowboys. The higher the Sooners are ranked on Dec. 3, the better. That, of course, really only matters if OSU is also undefeated.

Cowboy fans were clearly conflicted at Joseppi’s, my first stop. One group of fans cheered when the Sooners scored a touchdown. Then a different group cheered when a penalty erased the touchdown. It was pretty funny.

What say you, blogosphere? Are you happy that the Sooners are dismantling the Longhorns?

That was my first time at Joseppi’s, and I thought the pasta was pretty solid. I will definitely be going back there again.

Then, after I parked in the media garage, I walked around the entire stadium to get to Eskimo Joe’s, where the Sports Animal radio crew was set up. During my walk, I passed by tons of tailgates and weaved my way through a sea of orange. Shoutout to the group with the orange vintage car with Pistol Pete on the steering wheel and the BBQ truck. Good stuff. There appeared to be some neat parties around where the Sports Animal was set up, but I didn’t get a chance to hang out for very long because I had to get up here to the press box. But I enjoyed going on the pregame show and look forward to doing that for every home game.

Unfortunately, because I was in a hurry, I forgot to take any photos. I hope my words will do.

Enjoy the game if you’re in Stillwater. If not, follow @OSUGameDay for all your updates.
