J.W. Walsh, Oklahoma State’s likely starting quarterback against No. 12 Texas, says he hasn’t tried to model his game after a specific quarterback.

But he does have a favorite.

Is it a former Cowboy that could run and pass, Zac Robinson? What about dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL like Tim Tebow or Cam Newton?

Nope. Joe Montana.

“When I learned about him and watched the way he played off of old classic games and stuff, the guy was a winner and a leader,” Walsh said of the NFL Hall of Famer and four-time Super Bowl champion. “And that’s kind of how I want to be. I don’t necessarily just want to be known for running or throwing on the run (or) mobility. Just helping my team win as best I can.”
