Gundy Wants Randle’s Eyes of Texas Regularly
Cowboys running back Joseph Randle ran for a career-best 199 yards against Texas and admitted afterward to being on edge for the matchup.
OSU coach Mike Gundy said now he’s looking for that same edge on a weekly basis.
“Joseph played with some fire and had that look in his eye,” Gundy said. “We actually had a conversation with him… that’s the way he has to play every game. It’s Texas and it’s national TV and everybody’s watching you, but the good players, the one’s who really want to make a difference, they have to do it against every team we play each week. You’ve got to find a way to motivate yourself.
“I’m hoping that’s the future for Joseph.”
Randle has been solid, with the Texas performance representing his 10th career game with 100 rushing yards or more. He’s hit the century mark in all four games this season.
But Randle was clearly charged up for the matchup with the Longhorns, who brought one of the more highly respected defenses in the Big 12 into Stillwater. And it showed from the start, with Randle romping 69 yards for a touchdown on the game’s second play from scrimmage.
