Oklahoma State is gearing up for its Big 12 basketball opener.

And it’s a major challenge – at No. 25 Kansas State.

Of course, that works both ways, and the Wildcats recognize the challenge as well, as both teams consider themselves contenders to the conference title.

And a win Saturday would be a huge boost in solidifying such status.

In Manhattan, the Wildcats have had some good things to say about the No. 22 Cowboys.

“To me it is amazing. Not only are they good offensively, but they are good defensively. I think last year if you watched them, it was a question mark for their team.

“They have some depth and versatility. (Marcus) Smart can hurt you in a lot of ways. (Phil) Forte can really shoot and (Markel) Brown gives them some athleticism.”
