Report: Dontre Wilson visiting Texas, not Oklahoma State, this weekend; other recruiting updates

It appeared Oklahoma State could take advantage of Chip Kelly’s departure from Oregon and make a push for a big last-minute recruit, with DeSoto (Texas) running back Dontre Wilson, a Ducks commitment who has been reconsidering his options, scheduling an official visit to OSU for this weekend.

Now it looks like those plans have changed, as OrangeBloods.com, the Texas Rivals affiliate, reported Tuesday that Wilson will instead visit Austin this weekend.

That means OSU will likely have to settle for two running backs in this class in three-star prospects Corion Webster (Atlanta, Texas) and Rennie Childs (Houston Cypress Ridge).

And with Signing Day just a week away, OSU’s target list is essentially down to three, according to OStateIllustrated.com.

Hurst (Texas) L.D. Bell defensive end Vili Leveni, a Utah commitment, is expected to get an in-home visit from OSU coach Mike Gundy on Wednesday. Though two defensive ends — Sam Wren and Naim Mustafaa — are already on campus in Stillwater, this is still a position of need for the Cowboys. Especially after Tyus Bowser committed and then decommitted from OSU in a five-day span.

Ephraim (Utah) Snow College defensive tackle Ofa Hautau made an official visit to OSU last weekend. The three-star prospect’s other offers include Oregon State, Utah and Hawaii.

Ringling’s Jackson Dillion, a Memphis commit, could get a late OSU offer, much like in-state products Caleb Muncrief and Jesse Vester (who double signed with NEO and wound up there because he didn’t qualify academically at OSU) did last year. The Cowboys currently have no commitments from Oklahoma.
