As top prospects (and lower-level fringe underclassmen) all over the country declare for the NBA Draft, jumping ship with regularity these days, Marcus Smart, Oklahoma State’s guaranteed top-five pick, continues to wrestle with the decision whether or not to turn pro.

“I have not made a decision yet,” Smart said, talking publicly for the first time since OSU’s season-ending loss to Oregon. “I’m still talking with my parents, the team, Coach Ford, just trying to get some things situated and get more information to make my decision.”

While many have categorized the decision as an obvious one for Smart (take the guaranteed money and run), he views it a bit differently, with positive and negatives to both sides.

“It’s definitely been stressful,” Smart said, hours before accepting the Wayman Tisdale Award in OKC, given to the nation’s best freshman. “A lot of people want me to stay, a lot of people want me to go. But it comes down to my decision and what I decide to do.”

“I have made a pro-con list and it gets more difficult every time I make the list,” Smart continued. “I make it every day and my mind changes every day and it gets harder and harder every day.”

Asked when the decision may come, Smart shied away from setting a definitive date: “It’ll be soon, but not that soon.”

Check back to later tonight for a more expanded story on Smart’s comments.
