Clinton used a strong, quick defense and running game to whip Weatherford, 30-8, Friday night.

Senior linebacker Brayden Lockhart, the team’s captain, had 20 tackles, 16 of which were unassisted.

“I just studied all week and knew what they were going to run out of the different formations,” Lockhart said of his performance.

Clinton coach Mike Lee was impressed with his team’s performance, but said his offensive line needs to be more consistent.

“I was impressed with our abillity to run and chase on defense,” Lee said. “I thought we looked quick and got to the ball well.”

Sophomore running back Delans Griffin rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

“We’re inexperienced on the line,” Lee said. “We were a little inconsistent at times.”
