Watch out for Bridge Creek....

Bridge Creek is emotionally on top of the world right now, and I don’t blame them.
The team is 2-0 for the first time in school history, made the playoffs last season, set a school record for wins last year (6) and appears to only be getting better.
“It feels awesome,” senior quarterback and safety Zane Mellinger said. “I mean, it’s a hard feeling to describe. It’s just exciting, the whole town’s excited. Bridge Creek’s never been undefeated.”
Coach Jerry Wallis seems to have been exactly what Bridge Creek needed.
Wallis inherited a team that had gone winless in back-to-back seasons, and has slowly seen progress until now, when Bridge Creek is a team that could legitimately contend for its district championship.
Wallis has put in a new offense that puts playmakers where they can be the most effective. Quarterback Zane Mellinger has run it to perfection thus far.
“(The offense is) really good,” Mellinger said. “It really puts everybody in the spots they need to be. It’s really hard for defenses to stop.”
I’m not saying the Bobcats are going to be hoisting the gold ball in November, signifying a state championship, but they are a team to be feared by opponents. Now, not only are they talented, but fired up as well.
