Plainview hopes to avoid OU's fate

Plainview faces an eerily similar situation to what OU faced last week.
Heading into their game against Colorado, the Sooners were likely a little unfocused, thinking about this week’s game against Texas. And OU paid for it with a shocking 27-24 loss to Colorado, who was supposed to be a pushover.
Plainview plays Friday against Dickson, a school that’s just about 15 minutes away and is a rival. But coach Corey Cole hopes his team isn’t thinking too much about what looms in Week 7: Purcell.
“We haven’t lost to Dickson in a long time, and on the horizon you’ve got Purcell, so we’re trying to keep the kids focused,” Cole said.
Plainview has a bone to pick with Purcell from 2006 — the 15-14 loss to the Dragons last year cost Plainview a district title.
“(The Dickson) game is the most important one we’ve played all year,” Cole said.
Cole said the OU-Colorado upset couldn’t have come at a better time for Plainview, because the coaches have been using it for motivation.
“Colorado was not a bad football team,” Cole said. “But OU was supposed to win big.”
