We tried something out last year and did a whole “Off to college” special. It worked out well, so starting Friday, those stories will be back.
I like these stories because this (and stuff like All-State games) gives you a chance to maybe write about that boy/girl you didn’t get the chance to during the season itself.
I’m doing the winter sports portion and heading to Putnam North swimming and diver Amy Kilby.
For those that don’t know, Kilby won the state championship as a sophomore and a junior and was primed to win it for a third time. However, the OSSAA took away the diving competition for her senior season.
Instead of sulking, Kilby still swam for Putnam North and will be back on the diving board again as she has signed with San Jose State.
Fellow chum Justin Harper is handling the fall season (Heritage Hall volleyballer Jessica Adams) while Brandon Chatmon has spring (Casady track runner Nick Bonfiglio) and Ryan Aber is writing the football story (Norman North’s Beau Traber).
We’ve been running signing lists the last couple of Sundays, but please, if you know of any more, send ‘em to either myself or Ryan Aber (RAber@opubco.com).
Back in a bit with more ADM thoughts. More specifically, the chaos (and beauty) that will be Class 3A in football, starting in 2010.
