Former Millwood and current Texas Tech standout Gil Roberts will race in just a few hours in the 400 meter run at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin.

Roberts is racing in the fifth of seven heats in the event. Roberts best 2009 time, 44.86, which is also his personal record, is the best 2009 time in the heat. Sweden’s Johann Wissman (44.56) and France’s Leslie Djhone (44.46) have run better times in their careers.

Roberts should emerge from the heat, though, as the first three of each heat and the three best other times advance. The semifinals of the 400 are Wednesday, before competitors get some time off before Saturday’s finals.
