Yea, we’re getting ready for the start of football season but wanted to give some love to a couple of Edmond runners who definitely deserve it.

Gunnar Nixon of Edmond Santa Fe and Isaiah Duke of Edmond Memorial.

Both were superb at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C., late last month and earlier this month.

Nixon and his success isn’t too much of a surprise as he was a member of the Big All-City track team last year.

But the dominance he showed in the Boys Intermediate Division in the decathlon is something to marvel at.

Nixon posted 7,000 points, breaking a record that had stood for 11 years. But that wasn’t enough for him as Nixon won the 400 hurdles and also placed second in the high jump.
