MSM: Improvement on horizon...

Not everything clicks in a coach’s first season at a new school. That certainly was the case for Dal Nichols and Mt. St. Mary.
But there are reasons to be excited for Rockets fans heading into the football season that begins next week.
Of course, if you read the magazines, there isn’t much hope. Both the CoachesAid and Vype previews have MSM located in the cellar of District 2A-1.
Based off last season, that’s understandable. However, anytime you have 17 starters coming back, you have to think improvement is on the way.
Nichols thinks the team will surprise some people. He’s not the only one in that camp. That seems to be the mantra for WR Aaron Smith.
Said Smith:
We’re going to sneak up on people. We’re not as bad as people think we are.
Nichols is high on Smith because of his quickness and size. And you add that with Dalton Newsome (who is already a proven commodity), you start to see why there is hope for the Rockets.
The key will be who is going to be able to get the ball to Smith and Newsome. Nichols is confident in the line and the team only lost six seniors (and some of them didn’t play that much).
Should be a season of improvement. How much, who can say? The pieces are there, though.
