One 5A power taken down, another to go for the Irish. Never a dull moment in their schedule. After beating Guthrie in a grueling affair, now McGuinness takes the trip to Bishop Kelley. Will the environment shake up QB Quinn Shanbour?

Bishop McGuinness (1-0) at Bishop Kelley (1-0)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Bishop Kelley HS

McGuinness (W, Guthrie, 12-7)
Why the Irish can win: Because the moves Kenny Young made on defense paid off in spades. And with one game under his belt, the nerves should be almost all gone for quarterback Quinn Shanbour.

Quote:

This is their best team since 2001. This is a real good team. This is going to be a huge challenge. It doesn’t get any easier.” Young

Bishop Kelley (W, Tulsa Memorial, 51-16)

Why the Comets can win: Because they were able to go on the road and beat a more-experienced McGuinness team at Pribil Stadium last year. Might be the best team nobody is talking about in 5A.

Key matchup: LaRone Richardson vs. Bishop Kelley defense. Shanbour will have to make his fair share of plays and will probably find Sam Crabtree to do so. But for the Irish to win this game, they’ll need a strong effort for their No. 1 threat on the ground, Richardson.

The pick: McGuinness 14, Kelley 10. I’ve learned from last week in picking against the Irish. The McGuinness defense paves the way to another close victory against another good 5A squad.
