Players of the week: Moore Zone

Moore zone players of the week:

 

Football

Austin Haywood, TE/DE, Southmoore

Haywood led the SaberCats to a 38-35 double-overtime win by running for a touchdown, catching a touchdown pass and making a crucial interception in the second overtime.

 

Others:

Nyko Symonds, WR/CB, Southmoore

Symonds was huge in the Southmoore win, leading the team in receiving, scoring a touchdown on offense and defense and recovering a fumble.

 

Brian Self, RB/NG, Westmoore

After Westmoore had not been able to gain any significant yards rushing all game, Self came in at running back in the late fourth quarter and ran for 57 yards in one series.

 

Larry Rhodes, DE, Moore

As usual, a steady force for the Lions’ defense..

 

Cross country

Toby Bothwell, Westmoore

Had the best time in all classes in the biggest meet of the season to this point, the Edmond Dog Pack.

 

Others:

Taylor Painter, Westmoore

Placed third at the Dogpack in the 5A/6A girls division.

 

Ashley Sparkes, Southmoore

Placed in top 11 at the Dogpack in the 5A/6A girls division.

 

Softball

Kendra Pierce, Westmoore

Strong play at shortstop in close losses to Piedmont and Broken Arrow at the Putnam City Tournament.

 

Volleyball

Lacie Adame, Southmoore

Led team by Wright Christian with strong outing.
