Here’s a look at this week’s BOTR Zone Players of the Week in softball and football. As always, we encourage coaches and parents to submit nominees for the list to any Oklahoman prep writer.

Football

Bryan Dutton, QB, Guthrie: The freshman came alive for the Bluejays, throwing for 242 yards and four touchdowns in Guthrie’s 34-14 victory against Piedmont. After trailing 14-0, Guthrie scored the final 34 points. Dutton has struggled to start the year but clearly gained confidence from his team’s first win. That confidence will be tested in their district opener against Durant Friday night.

Softball

Amanda McClelland, P, Lawton MacArthur: No championship hangover for the senior who has been every bit as dominant this season as she was last year when the Highlanders won the state championship. Lawton Mac is ranked No. 1 in Class 5A.
