The way Casady has played this year it’s tough to remember that more than a month ago, we were all shocked at how well they were doing.
Now it’s seemingly par for the course. Great defense, great running game, add another win for the Cyclones.
Like I’ve said before, that’s a pretty good recipe right now. And never was the running game more effective than in Friday’s 56-21 at Dallas Greenhill where Casady rushed for 513 yards.
Leading the charge is senior Bentley Williams. After a quiet start, Williams has come alive in the last couple of weeks, piling up the yards and the touchdowns. He added another two scores in earning the Private schools Player of the Week.
I said Williams would be the difference in this team being very good to great. Cale Shivers need help with the running game, and Williams has done so. The Cyclones are one of the more complete teams in the state right now.
Other contenders
Barry Sanders Jr., RB/CB, Heritage Hall: He scored twice in a 17-0 victory at Kingfisher. But really, all 11 guys on defense deserve this honor, too, with back-to-back shutouts after an 0-3 start.
