9:42 – What a good one between Edlam rivals North and Santa Fe. Maddie Martin’s two-run single propelled ESF to a 3-2 victory against North.

Abby Taliaferro had a two-run HR for North off of Martin. Sierra Bronkey came in relief to pick up the win.

I’ll say it now: Think Bronkey might the best and most valuable player in the state. Just throwing it out there. It’s amazing what she was able to do after throwing 11 innings the previous game.

Things got a little testy b/w the rivals when Bronkey hit one batter and nearly hit another (ruled it hit the bat). But cooler heads prevailed.

That wraps up Day 1 of 6A, 5A softball. Back Friday for Day 2 of B-6A, should be the longest day I’ve had in a long, long while.

7:51 – And our first team is eliminated as Carl Albert drops a 4-1 decision to Duncan. Colin White’s club is young and will see three seniors depart. It just wasn’t their day today. Duncan lives on to fight another day.

7:27 – Lawton Mac 2, Skiatook 0. Moore 4, Tulsa Union 3. The Moore game was a fun one and look for a story on the Lions in Friday’s paper. That team has been going under the radar all season but surprise, surprise, Moore is still around when it matters most. Moore will play Mustang at 10 a.m. Friday

4:43 – A bang-bang play at the plate goes to Broken Arrow and the Tigers win 1-0 against Santa Fe in 11 innings. Megan Sullivan got the hit. The throw to the plate look like it beat Sam Reiss, but the tag (maybe) wasn’t applied.

Tough to see from my vantage point, but Santa Fe’s Sierra Bronkey and coach Rhonda Lawson were none too pleased with the call. Another good one here at ASA.
