Purcell: Getting ranked

Purcell moved into the Oklahoman’s top 10 after a 35-14 win over Bethany last week. It’s a nice step for the Dragons who have been quietly under the radar this year with a 6-2 record. Purcell takes on Pauls Valley this week.

For players on Purcell’s team, the end of the season is being met with consistent play that should bode well for the playoffs.

“I think we deserve to be ranked in the top 10,” linebacker Garrett Goldsby said. “We’ve gotten better all around. We’re executing like we’re supposed to be, but we’re also playing a little more aggressively.”

But that doesn’t mean beating Pauls Valley will easy. They need a couple of wins to get into the playoffs and are at home.

“They definitely need some wins to get in the playoffs and they’re always athletic and have a bunch of guys that can run,” Goldsby said.
