LAWTON 34, NORTH 16 – FINAL

An outstanding second-half rushing performance by Lawton gives the Wolverines a date with Tulsa Union next week in the quarterfinals.

Charles Smith was the star, running for 134 yards and two touchdowns as Lawton outscored North 20-0 in the second half.

Much more on this game Saturday in the SMQ.

I take it back. Lawton will have the wind in the fourth quarter. This quarter will be crucial for the Huskies then with the way this one has gone.

NORTH 16, LAWTON 14 -HALFTIME

8:45 – If I knew directions, I’d tell you when the wind is blowing thataway, the teams are scoring. All 30 points came to the team with the wind. Lawton chalked up 14 in the first quarter before the Huskies answered with 16 in the second.

Lawton’s passing game has been rendered ineffective, but the Wolverines do have 114 yards on the ground. Edmond North has 74 yards with Joe Aska Jr. leading the way with 19 carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Travis Townsend has been composed and neither QB has really faced any pressure. Townsend was 7-of-12 for 89 yards while Cody Miller was 4-of-13 for 30 yards. Lawton had a couple of big gainers on the ground called back by penalty as well.

Scoring summary: LHS – Patrick Diaz 3 pass from Cody Miller (kick good); Deaquan Wojciechowski 82 punt return for Lawton; Joe Aska Jr. 3 yard TD for North; Aska 14-yd. TD run (PAT missed); Austin Brasher 37 FG.
