Kingfisher: Derek Patterson back home...

Able to talk with Kingfisher athletic director Craig Patterson today. Yeah, he’s the A.D., but more important this last weekend is he is also the father of junior Derek Patterson.
Derek Patterson was injured in the 2A championship game against Lincoln Christian on a hit out of bounds. He had to be taken out on a stretcher.
But Derek is back home and was actually able to go home Saturday night.
Craig told me Derek is a little woozy and is having some headaches with stiffness in his neck, but all the X-rays and tests showed nothing seriously wrong.
He was in such a good mood as he more joking about trying to recover from the Lincoln Christian defeat than anything else.
Craig wanted to thank everyone who has reached out to his family the last couple of days. The Patterson clan has been bombarded with calls and people wondering how Derek is doing.
Craig said the doctors were worried about a ‘slight concussion’ but by the time they got to the Stillwater Medical Center that really wasn’t even a real issue anymore.
Derek will meet with his local doctor Wednesday to see what progress has been made.
I’ve been a coach for 27 years, and I’ve learned you gotta enjoy the good times, but you have to be able to handle the bad times. Saturday was definitely a bad time.” – Craig Patterson
Great to hear, and I’m sure we’ll be hearing from Derek, Craig and the rest of the Yellowjackets as we now get ready for basketball season.
