I’m sure if you’ve read my stuff this school year, you’ve learned there are certain things that impress me. Playing good against a rival earns high marks, but I put just as much stock into following up a big win as well.

That’s why I’m giving this week’s Private schools Player of the Week to Casady’s Preston Sullivan. I’ve documented how clutch he was in the win at rival Heritage Hall, hitting the game-winning free throws. And I loved how honest he was about being caught up in that moment and how special it really was.

But that win doesn’t mean as much without the followup performance Friday against Arlington Oakridge. Sullivan once again led the team in scoring as he had 17 points in a 48-42 win.

Early on in the season, it was Ryan Shelley doing the heavy lifting, but Bentley Williams is finding his basketball legs and Sullivan is turning out to be a stud, too. Coach Josh Bottomly is getting everything he can out of this team.

Casady did go on the road and lose to Dallas Episcopal on Saturday, however.
