So far, this is the signing list that I have from Edmond Memorial. If you know more kids, shoot it this way. It’s been tough trying to get all the names.

Santa Fe has the history of having solid recruits. North had this year’s most-prized recruit in Edmond (Xavier Smith).

But for my money, the 2009 Memorial football team will be one that will be remembered for a long time.

Nothing flashy about this group, but they played as a team and played for each other. And in the end, made the quarterfinals for the first time since the Edmond split.

A lot of that has to do with the defensive back heading to Fort Hays St., Nelson Medeiros. I’ve said it before, but he is one of the best leaders I’ve seen.

But this team was just that, a TEAM. You knew there weren’t going to be any can’t-miss prospects, but there are a ton of guys you’d love to have on your team.

Now next year? Well, that might be a little different with Kameron Doolittle and Connor Myers anchoring a solid class. This year was about a bunch of kids believing in a new coach (Justin Merideth) and turning heads with each big win.
