Perry finding success in unlikely places

Perry is the state’s most tradition rich wrestling program, and few will debate that. But the Maroons have had their share of weaknesses over the years, mostly at heavyweight. That may be changing as heavyweight Steven Inselman managed a fall in his team’s 36-34 dual win over No. 1 ranked Tuttle earlier this week.

Inselman is an interesting story in that according to coach Scott Chenoweth was just a big kid in the halls that looked like he might make a good heavyweight. Long story short, the coaches convinced him to come out for the team last year and he has slowly progressed into a kid who should qualify for state and has a decent shot to place, something that hasn’t happened at Perry since the very early part of this decade.

It’s a case of the rich getting richer. Chenoweth also has high praise for Jamaree Swan, younger brother of three-time champ Stephen Swan and Perry already returns Colton Gallo, Ian Fisher and Hayden Workman.
