It’s hard to argue with Justin Harper’s selection of Midwest City standout and Duke signee Richa Jackson as his player of the week.

Jackson has been steady throughout the season and was again in Friday’s 59-35 win over No. 5 Norman North. Jackson had a game-high 18 points, forced six turnovers and was instrumental in a 26-7 third-period run that put the game away.

Jackson isn’t the only reason Midwest City is the favorite to win the Class 6A state championship next month, but she’s a big reason. She’s among 6A’s best in scoring, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Others
Larry Cunningham, Carl Albert: Cunningham scored 21 in Carl Albert’s 66-52 win over Shawnee on Friday night.

Airick Johnson, Del City: Johnson won the 55-meter hurdles at the state indoor track championships in Enid over the weekend, with a time of 7.63 seconds.

Dillion Johnson: The Midwest City football standout won the triple jump at the track championships, with a jump of 40 feet, 11.75 inches.

Kendall Parks, Midwest City: Parks didn’t score in Midwest City’s 44-40 win over Norman North but he was instrumental in the No. 8 Bombers coming out with the win. Parks held Norman North’s Patrick Schaefer without a field goal as Midwest City came back from a halftime deficit to win on the road.
