Get to know some West Metro spring athletes
Without enough events taking place over spring break to warrant a player of the week, I thought this would be a good time to share some information about spring sports athletes from the West Metro.
Below are Q&A’s with West Metro athletes who attended our spring sports media day:
Kris Godwin, Yukon boys soccer
What do you do to get away from sports?
Hang out with family and friends but even then I end up playing soccer or football.
What was your “Welcome to Varsity sports” moment?
Being a sophmore and playing at the varsity level of competition.
What is your hidden talent (not including sports)?
Organizing events such as raffles, fundraisers, etc.
Other than you, who is the best athlete in your family and why?
My father. He began as a soccer player but then excelled in wrestling.
What has been the most life-changing event in your life so far?
The passing of my cousin last year.
Playing favorites – List five items that are your absolute favorite things in your personal life:
Family, friends, Playstation3, truck, iPod Touch.
Bucket list – List five things you must to do in life:
1.Visit Mount Rushmore 2. Swim with sharks 3. Go to another country 4. Go to a World Cup 5. Go to a safari in Africa.
List one person you want to trade places with for a day and why:
Wayne Rooney. He is a game changer and is one of the elites when it comes to the game of soccer.

What do you do to get away from sports?
I hang out with family, my boyfriend and friends, going to movies, skiing, and riding horses. I love to get pedicures and manicures.
What was your “Welcome to Varsity sports” moment?
It was my very first high school tournament and I shot a 117. We were playing at Aqua Canyon in Guthrie and it was freezing with gusting winds. It was horrible but I am glad I endured it to start off my golf career.
What is your hidden talent (not including sports)?
I am great at telling jokes and making people laugh.
Other than you, who is the best athlete in your family and why?
My Uncle David Bizzell is probably the best athlete in our family. He held several records in track in Arkansas. My Uncle Tony Kyle played college basketball. My dad Karl Bizzell played football.
What has been the most life-changing event in your life so far?
When I accepted Jesus Christ into my life.

Paula Creamer – to experience the thrill of playing on the LPGA Tour and excelling at my dream.

What do you do to get away from sports?
I don’t really do anything to get away from sports, but I do love to cook.
What was your “Welcome to Varsity sports” moment?
When I skipped JV and went straight into Varsity track. I knew then that I might be pretty good at this. And the moment really hit me when I started breaking school records!
What is your hidden talent (not including sports)?
I love to cook and I like to sing.
Other than you, who is the best athlete in your family and why?
My sister, because we both run track and we love to compare our times.
