MAC boys basketball postseason honors

The Metro Athletic Conference boys basketball coaches released their postseason all-conference teams and awards, which couldn’t have been easy to select, based on the amount of talent in that conference. The conference made up three of the four state semifinalists in the 6A tournament with state champ Putnam City, along with PC West and Edmond Santa Fe.

Toss in Putnam City North and Mustang, two of the hotter teams toward the end of the year, as well as Choctaw, which hovered around the top 15 much of the year, and the conference was pretty stacked. Yukon and Edmond North weren’t exactly slouches, either, but their records reflected the difficulty of playing in the MAC.

Anyway, on to the honors, led by Tyler Neal of Putnam City West as MVP. Here’s the full list:

Co-Defensive Players of the Year: Tre Payne, Putnam City, and Mahlon Jones, Edmond Santa Fe

Coach of the Year: Shawn Schenk, Edmond Santa Fe
