I asked for more tennis news, and I got some. Seriously, you can never send me enough.

In the lower classes, it’s easy to get enamored with private school tennis. But the Perry girls are showing there is some solid play outside of the private realm.

The girls placed third last year and have won all four tournaments they’ve participated in this year, including the US Grant Invitational at the OKC Tennis Center (my home away from home) on Wednesday.

Perry earned titles from Lauryn Sullins (No. 2 singles), Trisha Punneo and Tori Wilde (No. 1 doubles) and Emily Brown and Nicole Sadler (No. 2 doubles). No. 1 singles player Krysta Mitchell placed third.

Sullins is 12-0 this season, and the future has to be bright for the program as Sullins and Brown are both just freshmen.

Perry is back Friday for the Guthrie Invitational at the OKC Tennis Center. Should be a great test as it is a Class 5A-heavy field: Guthrie, Deer Creek, Ada, Carl Albert, Altus, Stillwater and Duncan JV.
