Distance runners Dustin Barrier, of Norman North, and Tanner Satterthwaite, of Norman, are giving fans their moneys’ worth when watching the two intra-city rivals square off.

Saturday, in the at the John Jacobs Invitational, Barrier came from behind to nip Satterthwaite by five one-hundredths of a second for second place in the 3,200 meters. In the 1,600, the two came in together as well, with Satterthwaite taking fourth and Barrier fifth.

The close finishes are becoming a trend for these two. At the Class 6A cross country meet in October, Barrier surged past Satterthwaite at the tape to take third, less than half a second ahead of Satterthwaite.
