One of the Class 6A boys basketball coaching vacancies in the metro area was filled Monday when Norman hired Jeffrey McCullough from Sherman, Texas. The school board approved the decision at its meeting on Monday and McCullough accepted the offer that night.

McCullough graduated in 1997 from Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant, where he played basketball for the Savage Storm. He has been the head coach at Sherman High since 2001, leading his team to 25 or more wins four of the last five years and a regional semifinal appearance in 2009. He was named district coach of the year five of the last seven seasons.

Wes Clark resigned in March after eight seasons as the Norman boys coach. The Tigers were 5-17 last season.

Del City and Edmond North are still looking for boys coaches.
