With a clutch victory over second-ranked Edmond Memorial Tuesday, Mustang’s boys soccer team put itself in position to win a district championship and gain home field advantage for at least two rounds.

It also completely tangled up the Class 6A District 2 standings.

Edgar Pineda hit the game-winner for the sixth-ranked Broncos, handing Edmond Memorial its first loss of the season. The Mustang win creates a three-way logjam atop the standings between the Broncos, Edmond Memorial and Norman North  —  all of whom have beaten one of the other two and lost to the other. And all three matches  came by 1-0 counts (Memorial beat Norman North, Norman North beat Mustang).

Should the teams remain tied, marginal points would be used as a tie-breaker. With two games remaining, Norman North has three more marginal points than Mustang and Edmond Memorial, who are tied.
