The latest batch of tennis rankings by the OTCA. Special thanks to Duncan coach Phil Barnes for passing them along.
Class 6A Boys
1. Edmond North; 2. Putnam North; 3. Edmond Memorial; 4. Union; 5. Jenks; 6. Norman North; 7. Broken Arrow; 8. Enid; 9. Shawnee; 10. Muskogee.
Boneman’s take: Huskies rightfully take the No. 1 spot from the Panthers. Those top four teams all have the potential on a given day to be the best. Can’t wait for next month. Only sure thing is Chris Haworth (PCN) winning the No. 1 singles title.
Class 6A Girls
1. Jenks; 2. Edmond North; 3. Enid; 4. Edmond Memorial; 5. Broken Arrow; 6. Shawnee; 7. Union; 8. Owasso; 9. Mustang; 10. Bartlesville.
Boneman’s take: This should be a tight battle as well. Jenks appears to have the most talent, but Ed North came up huge last year. Enid will definitely be in the conversation, too.
Class 5A Boys
1. Bishop Kelley; 2. Ada; 3. Carl Albert; 4. Bishop McGuinness; 5. Booker T.; 6. McAlester; 7. Ardmore; 8. Durant; 9. Duncan; 10. Deer Creek.
Boneman’s take: This is going to be interesting as though feel the Comets should win the team title pretty easily, could envision three different teams getting a championship next month.
