A week before the girls tennis state tournament, we’re going to get a pretty good look at two of the top three teams in Class 4A on Thursday.

No. 1-ranked Heritage Hall and third-ranked Perry (among several others) will be in the Braver Invitational at Heritage Hall.

The Maroons have been solid all season, winning six of the seven tournaments they’ve participated in. What makes that more impressive has been the injuries they’ve had to deal with, most recently at No. 1 doubles with Tori Wilde.

As a group, the Perry girls are 50-8, and the No. 1 singles will be a showcase of the best 4A has to offer with Krysta Mitchell (Perry), Lexi Maytubby (Anadarko) and the favorite, Heritage Hall’s Julie Labarthe. Labarthe has been untouchable the last couple of years, but this is an opportunity to step up and make something happen.

The No. 2 singles should also be intriguing, especially if Sarah Bowen gets the call for the Chargers (though it could be Chandler Bair). Perry’s Lauryn Sullins is 20-1 this season and should make a really good run at state next week.
