There were some pretty good choices this week, but the dominance of the Bishop McGuinness girls tennis team cannot be matched by any team in any sport.

So for that reason, the whole team is being recognized as Private Schools Player (Team) of the Week.

The girls once again went undefeated as the Irish won their 12th consecutive team title and Whitney Ritchie and Emily Conrad became four-time champions while Mia Lancaster and Ashleigh Chiaf are now three-time champions.

Doubles players Trinian O’Neil and Abby Hodges also won titles. It’s sorta the end of an era with Ritchie, Conrad and Lancaster all moving on.

The No. 1 doubles team of John Byrne and Jonathan Kraft have a great chance of their own for a title Saturday.

Other contenders

Caitlin Farris, Irish, Golf: Just a freshman, Farris won the state championship by nine strokes as McGuinness had four of the top 10 placers.

Bob Kraft, Heritage Hall, Baseball: Errors plagued the Chargers at regionals, but Kraft and the team had a phenomenal season after being unranked.

Braden Klein, Irish, Baseball: Tough pill to swallow for the Irish, who lost to Newcastle at regionals but Klein had a stellar year.
