Tennis marathon continues...

We’re just about through the quarterfinals of all classes here at the OKC Tennis Center. Got a little down time as the losers’ bracket matches are next up.
Technically, these matches were supposed to start at 8 a.m. so we’re actually gaining ground after the long delays we had Friday.
For those that don’t know (and don’t follow me on Twitter), the last match between Perry and Beaver ended right around 12:30 Friday night/Saturday morning.
Friday’s 8 a.m. matches started at just before 3. Then we were hit with a small mist delay Friday afternoon. All told, I think we were about eight hours behind.
Made up a lot of ground by playing to the late late hours. Also turned out to be a beautiful day after how cold and wet it was during the early hours.
Experienced a two-hour mist delay this morning. It’s not cold or wet, but it’s extremely slick out on those courts because of the constant mist.
It looks like the weather is going to hold up, but your favorite tennis writer (that’s me, right?) will definitely be camped back out here Monday.
As of now, can’t really gauge when play will be stopped. OSSAA representative Ron Etheridge said they’re going to go for as long as they can.
I seriously doubt any finals will be played today, but the Class 5A semifinals should get in and maybe even some of the 4A semis.
For your team races, Edmond North is looking solid in 6A. Casey Distaso had an interesting Friday. He won his match in less than 30 minutes and headed straight over to graduation where he was the speaker. Union, Jenks and Memorial also have solid opportunities.
