It’s tough to make a statement as a boys tennis player for Bishop McGuinness. There’s always going to be that cloud hanging over your head.

You know, the girls and their 12 consecutive state titles definitely make it tough to impress and make your own name.

But that’s exactly what the doubles team of John Byrne and Jonathan Kraft did all season. The duo were great singles players but when I found out they’d be teaming this year, kinda penciled them in as champs already.

And they played like it all year as they never lost to 5A competition and finishing the year at 28-3 and a straight-set victory in the championship.

Following the win and after being congratulated by the girls and former players, caught up with Byrne and Kraft.
