Last year for Casady was about turning the athletic program around, and it happened. The senior class led a resurgence for the Cyclones.

This year has already led to two HUGE developments at Casady as Steve Shelley will taking over for Jim Bonfiglio as athletic director while Allen Dukes will be the new boys basketball coach as has been reported before.

Both are officially unofficial. Shelley starts July 1 while the paperwork is still being finalized for Dukes.

The Shelley name is synonomous with Casady. This wasn’t a spot Shelley campaigned for, but he ‘s happy to be of service to the school.

Our family has always had passion and been interested and supportive of sports. For me, it’s going to be about achievement.

It’s great to get everyone involved, and we’ll continue to do that, but we’re striving for championships at Casady.” – Shelley

Shelley has served as the baseball coach the last two years and said as of now, he will remain in that spot.

He met with Dukes earlier this week and everything seems to be in good standing. It’s going to be weird to see Dukes not on the Del City sidelines.

Shelley said Dukes will bring stability and experience to the boys basketball program. Dukes is replacing Josh Bottomly, who was in his first year as head coach last season.
