Edmond Memorial baseball coach Kyle Roberts said you could tell that the recruiting process was taking its toll on star Drew Dahlberg whenever Dahlberg would talk about it.
However, it never once affected his play. Dahlberg was incredible in his senior season for Memorial, and his dream year continued as he committed to play at Oklahoma on Friday night.
I say committed because he can’t sign right now, of course, with all of OU and Sooner Nation being in Omaha for the College World Series.
His performance, his leadership, his character has just meant the world to this program. The rest of the kids followed his lead.” – Roberts
I got to watch Dahlberg a lot this season, and he was terrific every time out. That consistency, said Roberts, was one of the things that stood out to the Sooners.
Roberts said the interest began in the spring. OU was able to see him play a couple of times, and the staff was very impressed with what they saw.
Dahlberg helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class 6A state tournament and hit .450 with eight HRs and 35 RBIs. It didn’t stop there as he also had 15 doubles and was 31-33 on stolen base attempts.
Sooner fans looking to catch a glimpse of Dahlberg can do so this week at the Heartland Classic in Norman. Dahlberg is one of several OU signees who will be participating in the week-long Classic at OU’s Mitchell Park, Norman HS and Norman North HS.
