Yukon wide receiver Derek Deeds is back in Oklahoma, but his crazy week isn’t nearly done. He got back in time for the national camp at OU on Saturday and Sunday.
Here are more of his thoughts from today as well as some more insight on what it was like to be in Virginia this week. Deeds will be back Sunday for his final installment.
“Well I made it back just in time for Top Prospect camp. My flight from Virginia was delayed and I didn’t arrive in OKC until 12:30 this morning.
I got a few hours of shut-eye before linking up with QB Corben Jones and heading out to Norman. Corben also made Top Prospect camp.
It is really awesome to be there with Corben, because we’ve been teammates since we were 7 years old. Corben’s dad coached us on the youth team PCO Rams. We have been playing together ever since, except for when we went to different middle schools in Yukon and played against each other.
Top Prospect camp went great today. I am really looking forward to tomorrow. They have divided the players into teams, and we will be having a 7 on 7 tournament.
Before I forget, I have a few last thoughts about FBU Top Gun in Virginia. ESPN was there filming an episode of a reality TV show called “The Ride”. “The Ride” follows highly recruited high school QBs.
For this episode they were following four senior quarterbacks who were competing for the last spot in the U.S. All American Game. Hopefully, we can watch some Top Gun highlights on TV.
There sure is a lot of history in Virginia. Everywhere you turn, George Washington or Thomas Jefferson did something important.
I’ll update you again tomorrow with the last day of Top Prospect camp.”
