We’ve reached the end of our journey and the crazy week that was for Yukon wide receiver Derek Deeds, who concluded five straight days of top national camps Sunday at OU.
Here are his thoughts on Day 5, and at the end, yep, you realize he’s still a kid:
“Well, I finished Top Prospect camp this afternoon. Today we had a 7 on 7 tournament and my team made the consolation finals.
It was pretty cool because the teams had to coach themselves – even the parents were not allowed to help – and my team got along really well. We actually looked at and used part of the Yukon playbook in choosing our plays!
There were some absolute beasts at this camp. Name a position, and I can just about guarantee you that the number one recruit in the nation was there.
What an amazing and exhausting 5 days! I feel very privileged to have qualified for and attended the FBU Top Gun and NUC Top Prospect camps.
Now it’s time to focus on Yukon Miller football and our upcoming season. Everyone is really excited. We have a ton of talent and our players have worked extremely hard this offseason. Our coaches are unbelievable – they work incredibly hard and we all love them. We cannot wait for the season to start!
Thanks for allowing me to write this blog during the two camps. Now it’s back to reality; I have to get my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning!”
