Two-a-days: OKC preview
Over the course of the week, I plan to check in on all of the OKCPS football teams and Millwood as I try to further my knowledge of the teams in my new area of blog coverage.
But to kick off the opening of two-a-days on Tuesday, here are a few points of interest on some of the top teams in that group:
- Star Spencer has some rebuilding in a couple crucial areas, quarterback and offensive line, as Terrell Love tries to keep the Bobcats moving forward from last year’s state championship in Class 4A. Down to 3A, Star will hand the QB job to either a senior or a sophomore, with Carlos Hutson (the senior) and Darion Bogus (the sophomore) battling it out through the next few weeks.
The offensive and defensive schemes at Star will look basically the same as what former coach Darrell Hall ran. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Love said.
Of course, Love was his offensive coordinator two years ago before spending last season as the US Grant head man.
The Bobcats will get after it early, hitting the field for Midnight Madness Tuesday at 12:01 a.m.
- At Millwood, the time to talk is over, and the time to play has arrived. I remember watching the Falcons in the 7-on-7 Oklahoma Showdown in Edmond last month and one of the players claimed “We’re the best team in the state!” Then they lost to Class A Cashion in the quaterfinals.
