Just a short brief on it because the 13-hour time difference means I’ve missed my window of opportunity to talk to him until much later in the night:

Edmond Santa Fe senior track star Gunnar Nixon cleared 6 feet 8 ¾ inches to advance to the finals of the high jump at the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore late Monday night.

Nixon is one of seven finalists and is currently in fourth place. He had three misses, but he easily advanced.

The finals will be Saturday morning at 6 a.m., 7 p.m. local time in Singapore.
