We have reached that time…finally. Friday night will kick off the season for Casady as the Cyclones travel to Fort Worth take on All Saints. Cyclones won a thriller last year as kicker Andrew O’Bannon booted a game-winner as time expired.
Casady (0-0) at Fort Worth All Saints (0-0)
When: 7 p.m. Friday
Where: All Saints
Casady (0-0)
Why the Cyclones can win: Because even though they’re young, got enough mix of experience and kids that have been here before to make an impact. Juniors like Garrison Lee and Graham Bennett have been around for a while and senior Connor Morrison anchors the offensive line and serves as another coach out on the field. If you’re young, it helps to have a good line.
Quote:
We’ve watched a lot of film on this team, and we’re definitely focused for this. It’s tough with Heritage next week, but we can’t look ahead, and we’re ready.” – QB Mac Katigan
All Saints (0-0)
Why the All Saints can win: After a rough start, FWAll Saints earned a 5-5 record last year but lost a strong nucleus from that team. The team will utilize a spread offense and has a transfer quarterback in T.J. Millweard that should provide a new look for the team.
Key matchup: Casady running game vs. All Saints defensive line. To go with Lee, the team has been high on junior Cassius Calhoon in the backfield. Best chance for the Cyclones will be to try to grind this sucker out on the ground.
The pick: FWAll Saints 17, Casady 10. Tough to go on the road for your first game with such a young team. Defense will be stout, but it might take a while for the offense to gel. Casady fans will remember I picked All Saints and Heritage last year so not necessarily a bad thing I’m picking against ya.
