The 2010 version of the Moore War will come with an extra dose of power football. Moore already likes to keep the ball on the ground, but this season Westmoore should use force of will too. The first game of the season is a heated rivalry between two teams that like to pound the ball. I hope everyone comes out healthy.

Westmoore Jaguars (0-0) at Moore Lions (0-0)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Moore Stadium

Westmoore (0-0)
Why the Jaguars can win
: The Jaguars will have a powerful running game this season and could very well impose their offense on the Lions. Despite running a spread-style offense, Westmoore has the ability to run right at teams and come out ahead.

Moore (0-0)
Why the Lions can win:
When the game kicks off Friday night Moore might have the most electric offensive player on the field. Quarterback Vova Razryvin’s heart alone will give Moore a chance and that’s exactly what could tip this one in the Lions’ favor.

Key matchup: Vova Razryvin vs. Cody Cates. It’s not so much on either of these players to beat the other one, but instead how each leads his unit. Cates is the best playmaker on the Westmoore defense and Razryvin is a hard-nosed quarterback. These to will meet more than once on Friday and one of those times could be with the game on the line.

The pick: Westmoore 21, Moore 7. At the end of the day, Westmoore will just be too physical up front for the Lions.
