Choctaw (1-1) at Putnam City (2-0)
When:
7:30 p.m. Thursday
Where: Putnam City Stadium

Last week: Choctaw held an early lead before falling to Edmond North, 24-13. Putnam City rolled past rival Putnam City West 44-0.

Why Choctaw could win: Choctaw is a big, physical team, and that might give them a little bit of an advantage in the trenches against a PC team that doesn’t have a lot of size or depth up front. Tanner Hessman is a tough, dual-threat QB, and he has a strong RB combo back there with him in Corey Bennett and Aaron Fournier.

Why PC could win: The Pirates are riding high after back-to-back wins over their PC rivals, North and West, to open the season. The defense has been the biggest surprise, giving up just seven points so far, despite having very few returning starters. And the offense has shown the balance it wants, with the efficient pass game of Caleb Lee and the running back duo of Casey Curtis and Desmond Tilley.

Quote: “I like the offense this year. We run it more. Run it down their throat, throw a touchdown pass. (Tilley and I) like playing together. We’re a one-two punch.” – PC junior RB Casey Curtis
