Douglass (0-2) at Star Spencer (0-2)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Star Spencer High School

Last week: Douglass lost a thriller to Millwood, 36-31, when QB Shon Bridges was knocked out of bounds a yard short of the goal line on the final play. Star Spencer was dealt a 27-14 setback to upstart Southeast.

Why Douglass could win: With their offensive line and running backs, the Trojans are going to be able to pound the ground attack on anyone. And just when you think that’s all they’re going to do, Bridges will toss a pass to Marcus Caddell or DeVante McKinney and hit you with a big gain. They aren’t throwing a lot, but when they do, it’s productive.

Why Star could win: There’s a lot of pride on the line in this game. After beating Douglass for the gold ball last year, Star wants to show that they haven’t suffered a major dropoff. Star doesn’t have the depth of Douglass, but if they can find a way to establish the run game and avoid big mistakes, they should keep themselves in it.
