Norman (2-0) vs. Del City (1-1)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Kalsu Stadium (Ryan Aber will be there)
Norman
Why the Tigers can win: A pleasant surprise through the first two weeks, Greg Nation’s bunch isn’t going to be sneaking up on anybody this week. The defense, led by Greg Offenburger, has been electric in the first two games. They’ve held Norman North and Moore to seven points apiece.
Del City (L – MWC 35-13, W – NNorth 41-14)
Why the Eagles can win: Because this team isn’t going to open the new field at Kalsu Stadium, black out the stadium and wear baby blue ribbons to support coach Nick Warehime and lose, right? Keeping their emotions intact will go a long way to determine how this one is going to go.
Quote:
We had to get tougher. We know we have some great playmakers who can really produce. It’s going to be a learning process each week.” – Warehime
Key matchup: Donovan Roberts and Jaime Myers vs. Del City defense. Chris Stevenson leads a strong group of Eagle defenders that get overlooked because of the high-powered offense. It was the defense that led to the blowout of the Timberwolves.
The pick: Del City 31, Norman 20. Tigers will have some success on offense, but the defense hasn’t seen a group like Chazten Gonzales and company. The speed will be too much.
Boneman’s Del City prediction record: 1-1.
