I don’t like giving out ‘season’ honors, but Midwest City running back James Flanders has earned that honor through the first three games.

Adding another 170 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 41-6 victory against the Wolves, Flanders is my Mid-Del Player of the Week.

Flanders has been incredible in the last two weeks, leading the charge in the comeback win against Enid. And sparking the team to the win vs. Santa Fe.

Midwest City has a big test Friday night against fellow undefeated Yukon (Scott Wright will be there).

Other contenders

Kenton Whittington and Darvonta Knight, Carl Albert, Football: One’s got the power (KW), the other has the speed and the moves. Together they’re a big reason why the Titans are 2-1.

Larry Long, Del City, Football: In a tough game for the Eagles, Long caught the only touchdown of the night in a 41-6 loss to Norman.

Brooke Hand, Midwest City, Softball: After a big week at a tournament at OU, the Bombers continued their success with a win against top-ranked Edmond North at the Putnam City Tournament.
